What to Expect in a
Nervous System Regulation Session
Overview
Building Lasting Resilience
Nervous system regulation sessions focus on building your capacity to move through life's demands with more ease — not by eliminating stress, but by developing a more resilient and flexible nervous system.
Sessions are 50–60 minutes. You'll be guided by Jarrah through a process that is embodied, relational and gently challenging — always within what your system can comfortably manage.
Assessing Your Current State
Each session begins by orienting to where you are right now — your energy, your mood, what's present in your body. Jarrah will help you identify whether you're tending towards activation (hyperarousal) or shutdown (hypoarousal) and work from there.
Building Internal Resources
Regulation work is built on a foundation of resources — internal experiences that bring a sense of ease, safety or aliveness. Jarrah will help you discover and strengthen these, so they're available to you both in sessions and in daily life.
Pendulating Between States
SE uses a technique called pendulation — gently moving attention between more activated and more settled states. This trains the nervous system to trust that activation is temporary and that settling is always available.
Working with Polyvagal States
Jarrah draws on polyvagal theory to understand which part of your autonomic nervous system is running the show at any given moment. By understanding your own system's patterns, you begin to develop a kind of inner literacy that supports regulation outside sessions too.
Integration & Practices
Sessions close with grounding and integration. Jarrah may offer simple body-based practices to support regulation between sessions — such as gentle movement, self-touch, or brief moments of orienting attention. These are small but effective tools.
