What We Offer
SE Therapy Services
Trauma-informed somatic psychotherapy for lasting healing in Brisbane and online.
What is Somatic Experiencing?
Dr Peter Levine developed Somatic Experiencing (SE) to heal trauma at its source – the nervous system. Rather than talking through memories, SE helps the body complete survival responses that got stuck during a threatening experience. It draws on biology, neuroscience, psychology and indigenous healing practices.
Through gentle, moment-by-moment attention to bodily sensation, SE helps people safely integrate these unresolved responses, gradually restoring a natural sense of calm, aliveness and resilience.
Somatic Experiencing (SE)
The Foundation of Our Work
Developed by Dr Peter Levine, Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented approach to healing the effects of trauma and stress. Rather than focusing on the cognitive narrative, SE gently tracks bodily sensations, impulses and emotions to help the nervous system safely complete its defensive responses.
This may help with:
- Resolves the physiological roots of trauma
- No need to relive or retell your story
- Safe, gradual titrated approach
- Evidence-informed methodology
Trauma Therapy
Single-Incident & Complex Trauma
Whether you've experienced a single overwhelming event (accident, assault, medical trauma) or complex developmental trauma (childhood adversity, relational trauma), SE offers a pathway to integration. We work at your nervous system's own pace.
This may help with:
- Single-incident trauma
- Developmental & childhood trauma
- Relational & attachment wounds
- Medical & procedural trauma
Anxiety & Chronic Stress
Regulating a Dysregulated System
Anxiety often lives in the body as chronic muscle tension, shallow breathing, a racing heart, and a perpetual sense of dread. SE addresses these physical signatures directly, helping your system shift out of a chronic threat response into genuine rest.
This may help with:
- Chronic anxiety & panic
- Burnout & chronic stress
- Hypervigilance & hyperarousal
- Freeze & shutdown states
Nervous System Regulation
Building Lasting Resilience
Nervous system regulation is at the heart of all our work. We build your capacity to tolerate a wider range of emotions and sensations without becoming overwhelmed — expanding your "window of tolerance" so that life feels more manageable.
This may help with:
- Expanding the window of tolerance
- Emotional regulation skills
- Embodied resourcing
- Long-term nervous system resilience
Shock & Acute Trauma
Early Intervention
Receiving support soon after an overwhelming event can significantly reduce the likelihood of lasting traumatic symptoms. If you've recently been through an accident, medical emergency or other shock, early SE support can be profoundly helpful.
This may help with:
- Post-accident support
- Medical emergency recovery
- Natural disaster response
- Preventing chronic PTSD
